A Meeting Place for Foreign Women in Livorno

The CESDI association (Centro Servizi Donne Immigrati) of Livorno has once again organised a series of meetings for foreign women in Livorno working as care assistants to the elderly. There are increasing numbers of women from abroad coming to Livorno to carry out this kind of work. They often come alone, leaving friends and family behind, and it can be difficult for them to make contact with other people in a similar situation.

This project aims to offer these women a place to go on their days off, especially during the winter months when the parks are cold and wet. As last year, when the project began, Cesdi will be organising meals, birthday parties, computer courses, Italian language courses, dance, and much more.

The project will be inaugurated today, 20th November 2008, at 3.30pm, at the Cesdi offices in Via degli Asili 35, Livorno.

In 2007 about 150 women from 23 different countries took part in the project.
