A Range of Hotels in Livorno 
Although there may not be a huge amount of choice when it comes to looking for somewhere to stay in Livorno, the city actually offers a range of hotels to suit all tastes and budgets.

Hotel Gran Duca, opposite the port of LivornoThere are a number of small affordable hotels in Livorno city centre, convenient for overnight stays before catching a ferry, for example, while hotels of three and four star categories are also situated in areas handy for both the centre of town and the port of Livorno.

Going out of town, a few good hotels dot the coastroad on the way south towards Antignano, some of these with their own beaches. There is a brand new four-star hotel in the commercial district close to the new basketball stadium (a popular concert venue when not hosting basketball matches), and the old Palazzo Hotel opposite Terrazza Mascagni, on the seafront, is currently undergoing major redevelopment and will be able to offer good quality hotel accommodation and facilities in the not too distant future.

Camping, a Hostel, Bed & Breakfast and Agriturismo in Livorno

There are also several campsites in Livorno, and a youth hostel on the hill at Monte Rotondo.

A form of holiday accommodation that is immensely popular in Italy nowadays is the agriturismo, a room or apartment in a countryside setting, offering good value for money in lovely surroundings. They are usually situated on a farm, although that doesn't mean you'll be surrounded by pigs and cows - the farm is more likely to be in a vineyard or an olive grove! Many are self-catering, but it is still sometimes possible to find an agriturismo that offers a home-cooked evening meal, which to my way of thinking is the ideal solution! There are several agriturismo possibilities in the Livorno area - in most cases you will need your own transport, but they are still within easy reach of the city, while offering the peace and quiet of the countryside.

Also becoming more common and increasingly popular is Bed and Breakfast accommodation in Livorno, with more appearing all the time.
