Out of season breaks are a popular kind of holiday, and Italy is a tempting destination, but it is getting more and more difficult to find new places to go. Livorno offers an opportunity for a short break to somewhere unexplored, where all tastes are catered for.

Livorno offers a new slant on Tuscany

Many will fly into Pisa and head for the famous Tuscan cities like Florence and Lucca, but why not take a new slant on Tuscany and come to Livorno? Fly into Pisa and pick up a hire car, and you could stay at one of the B&Bs or agriturismi  that lie in the surrounding area - just a few miles from the city centre – thereby enjoying a peaceful setting without having to give up the facilities available in the city of Livorno with its restaurants, shops and theatres.

From Lazzareto to B&B2 October 2008 This is the latest photo of Ramona's B&B, which I wrote an article about earlier in the year. Work is progressing and the building looks set to go, with just the grounds to get in order now. Let's hope they can open for visitors soon!

The Old Lazaretto Ready to be Plastered (18th January 2008)In Livorno at the moment there are lots of building sites, but there is one in particular which deserves special attention: a project involving the renovation of an unusual old building that is now reaching its final phases. It is found in a tranquil spot away from the busy town centre, near Villa Corridi, in an enviable position overlooking the whole of the city and the sea beyond.
