Another draw from the jaws of victory for Livorno

The view from the top of the Curva Nord is quite spectacular. In the distance one can see the wonderful sanctuary of Montenero nestling in the hills above the city as well as the Torre di Calafuria to the south. It makes you realise what a beautiful location the stadium is in. The reason for this introduction is that this was the most exciting aspect of the first 40 minutes, perhaps even of the match. Livorno started the game like they were playing with a bomb and were scared to keep possession or give it to a team member in case it blew up. However, completely against the run of play, Perticone scored with a good header from a corner. The good cheer developed as Cittadella went down to ten men one minute before halftime when Teoldi was dismissed for pulling back Pulzetti who was running clear on goal. Livorno started the second half better, but to be honest, they couldn't have started any worse. Somehow Cittadella equalised 15 minutes from time with a looped shot over De Lucia. There was still time for Cittadella to have Volpe sent off for two yellows. But there was no time or ability to grab an undeserved winner. It is painfully clear that when Diamanti doesn't play, Livorno lack ideas and that many players don't step up to the task (yes, you Tavano!). The highlight of the game, other than the view, was the debut of Cellerino who looked lively and nearly set-up a goal with his first involvement. Next up for the Amaranto is Rimini away, so a win against Acori's old team is important to keep the pressure at the top.
