Enroling at School in Livorno
Enrolment at State schools at all levels generally takes place in January of the year for which entrance is required. However, if you arrive in Italy at a later time of year and need to enrol at school, you will have to approach the individual schools to see if they have a place available.
To enrol at a high school, you need to have passed the Scuola Media exams. If you have come from another country, you need to have official Italian translations of all your school certificates from your previous school, and you will be asked to take the Scuola Media exams before you complete high school. In Livorno, you should ask for further details of this at the Borsi middle school which holds the exams.
To enrol at any school you also need to be able to prove that you have had the vaccinations that are obligatory in Italy (except the Veneto region). These are Diptheria, Hepatitis B, Polio and Tetanus.
