The second edition Harborea in Livorno, a three day event dedicated to plants and flowers, at the Villa Mimbelli park from 12th to 14th October 2012.

A market offering plants, herbs, flowers, exotic species, cacti and seeds, plus garden furniture and local organic wine and food products.

Organised by the Garden Club association of Livorno.

Friday 12th Oct, 2.30pm to 6.30pm
Sat 13th & Sun 14th Oct, 9.30am to 6.30pm

Concert - Dipingendo Bach - Painting Bach

Cellist Luca Provenzani and artist Enrico Guerrini come together on Sunday 7th October 2012 at 5.15pm for the first of a new season of concerts presented by the AGIMUS association. 

Entitled Spedali Riuniti in Musica, the season of free concerts, will be held in the Palazzo Amministrazione on the second floor of Livorno's main hospital in Viale Alfieri.

The Andrea Colli Quintet will be closing the summer season with this afternoon jazz concert on Sunday 30th September 2012 at the Lounge Bar Scovamare, Bagno Sama, in Antignano.

Greta Hayes Ciurlante (vocals), Fabrizio Desideri (sax), Daniele Gorgone (Hammond keyboard), Nino Pellegrini (double bass), and Andrea Colli (drums), present some of the greatest pieces of funk and American Jazz. Free entrance, obligatory bar purchase. Info: +(39) 339 3972109

European Heritage Days 2012 - Events in Livorno

European Heritage Days is an annual event offering the opportunity to visit buildings, monuments and sites normally not open to the public.

For the occasion, Livorno will be opening its many multi-cultural cemeteries to the public. In addition, the Livorno delle Nazioni cultural association will be giving a presentation about the Old English Cemetery in Via Verdi, at 10am on Saturday 29th September, in the Multimedia room of the Misericordia (opposite the cemetery itself).

Following the presentation, there will be a guided tour of the cemetery, and the site will remain open to the public until 1pm.

They have already performed in the United States, the UK and Hungary, and on Friday 28th September 2012 will be performing in Livorno, at the Centro Cristiano Fonte di Vita church. They have been active for over 20 years and their repertoire includes a mixture of folk and classical music, gospel and hymns. The concert in Livorno will include songs in Italian, English, Latin and Swedish. Free entrance.

The Factory Art Design contemporary art gallery in Via Michon hosts this compelling exhibition of some of the world's most celebrated photographers, including Henry Cartier Bresson, Robert Capa, Robert Doisneau, Eliott Erwitt, Mario Giacomelli, Horst Peter Horst, William Klein, Herb Ritts, Peter Lindsbergh, Steve McCurry, Ferdinando Scianna, Oliviero Toscani, Margaret Bourke White, Man Ray, Sebastiao Salgado, Helmut Newton, Claudio Barontini, and Benvenuto Saba.

The exhibition continues until 27th October 2012, Mon-Sat 10am-12.30pm & 4pm-7.30pm

Gino Marotta, at Galleria Peccolo Livorno, Sep-Oct 2012Gino Marotta, at Galleria Peccolo Livorno, Sep-Oct 2012Contemporary artist Gino Marotta, born in Campobasso in 1935, is the subject of this exhibition entitled "Metacrilati 2003-2010 e Luci Colorate 2011-2012".

Since the beginning of his artistic career in the 1960s, Marotta has been using coloured acrylic glass to create his sculptures and relief works. His most recent works, "Luci Colorate", consist of virtual designs and luminous outlines enclosed withing transparent walls of plexiglass.
