Exhibition - AMEDEO MODIGLIANI
Offering a rare opportunity to see an exhibition of works by Amedeo Modigliani on homeground, this exibition will be held at the Galleria San Barnaba 2 in via Roma, across the road from the house where Modigliani was born on 12th July 1884. The exhibition, entitled "Amedeo Modigliani e i suoi amici da Livorno a Parigi-Guglielmo Micheli, Gino Romiti, Benvenuto Benvenuti, Renato Natali, Marc Chagall, Max Jacob, Pablo Picasso", will be inaugurated on Sunday 5th September at 12 midday and will be on display for a week only. It has been put together by the Galleria San Barnaba and the Studio Guastalla Arte Moderna, in collaboration with the Jewish Community. It brings together some important paintings and drawings by Modigliani and other great artists in his circle at the beginning of the 1900s.
Also on show will by archive documents gathered by the Centro Studi Amedeo Modigliani di Livorno, the Modigliani Institut of Paris and Rome, le Edizioni Graphis Arte di Milano, le Edizioni Salomone Belforte & C. di Livorno.
The exhibition examines in particular the friendship between Modigliani, Picasso and Max Jacob: "a human, artistic and intellectual association" formed in early 20th-century Paris.
