First Ever Wedding on Livorno's Terrazza Mascagni!
28th October 2013 History was made in Livorno this weekend when the first-ever wedding ceremony was held on the city's famously checkered Terrazza Mascagni. A lot of local newlyweds head out to the seaside for their photo shoot, but until now there has never been an actual wedding conducted there.
For Daniela and Francesco, there wasn't really any other alternative, as the Terrazza was where they met. Every summer the evangelical/protestant church 'Fonte di Vita' holds an evangelisation campaign on the Livorno piazza. Daniela was part of the church's youth team, and Francesco was in the audience.
"The permit was easy to get", said Francesco, "and we even got to pick our spot."They chose to get married facing the sunset just north of the gazebo, amid guests and curious onlookers alike. The half-page article in the local newspaper 'Il Tirreno' brought publicity to the unusual event, and the evangelistic spirit of the sermon was exactly what this young couple wanted.
