As an alternative to the train, the Livorno-Pisa route is also run by the CPT (Pisa bus company).
The CPT bus service Livorno-Pisa takes about an hour because it goes via the small coastal towns of Tirrenia and Marina di Pisa (popular for their beaches in the summer).

The buses leave from just behind Livorno's cathedral (Largo Duomo), near Piazza Grande. Although it takes longer than the train, you don't have to get from Piazza Grande to the train station. Tickets are available at the ATL office in Livorno (behind the cathedral, Largo Duomo), and at the bus station in Pisa. You have to validate your ticket in the small blue machine on board the bus.
NB: Please check these times before you travel in case of changes to the timetable.
WARNING: There have been frequent cases of pickpocketing by gypsies on these bus routes so please be extremely careful to keep wallets and purses safe.
