A day on the island of Capraia

Fast Ferry to Capraia - ticket office in the port of LivornoFast Ferry to Capraia - ticket office in the port of LivornoDuring the summer, when the fast ferry service to Capraia operates, it is possible to get to the island and back in a day. Capraia is 65km from Livorno and is one of the seven islands in the Tuscan Archipelago. Extremely popular as a stop for yachts and small cruisers, the island of volcanic origins is a beautiful unspoilt destination with its only village perched on a promontory overlooking the harbour. No cars are allowed on the island but there is a local bus service linking the port with the village. The only beach is Cala Mortola, a rocky cove accessible by boat.

Florence in a Day from Livorno

Although Livorno has plenty to offer to visitors, it cannot offer the history and artistic treasures that Florence has, and many of you will probably have Firenze high on your list of priorities of places to visit.

What to see in Florence

It can be done from Livorno and, with a bit of planning beforehand, can be a rewarding day out. If you catch an early train from Livorno (see times below), you should be able to manage to see the main sights such as the Duomo, the Baptistery, San Lorenzo Market, the Church of Santa Maria Novella, the Ponte Vecchio, and the Church of Santa Croce, or a selection of these, depending on your pace and interest.
