Pozzo Divino (literally, ‘well of wine’)
wine store and cellar enjoys an excellent location, right in the heart of Florence, close to
Piazza Santa Croce. It is found on the site of the ancient
Stinche prisons dating from the 13th century and where
Macchiavelli , the Renaissance politician, was once held. In fact, our cellars, now the custodian of precious bottles of Italian wine, were once the keepers of prisoners!
Our wine-tasting sessions, for
up to 20 people, offer both
wine and food in perfect combinations, our expert sommelier explaining how and why certain wines are suited to certain foods. For this we select typical
Tuscan produce, in season and freshly prepared. As well as the better known wine labels, we can also offer a range of carefully chosen fine wines from small wine-producers, and we can show you how the wines of Tuscany differ from those of other Italian wine producing areas. In addition to the sale and tasting of wine, we offer a number of related services, including guided tours to Tuscan wine-producers –Kosher wineries on request – and to areas ‘off the beaten track’.
