StudioZero Vetro, handmade Murano glass jewels

Caterina Zucchi's STUDIOZERO VETRO shop and workshop in the old Venezia district is a fascinating atelier that you just can't resist wandering in to. Caterina creates and displays her beautiful Murano glass jewels right here, in the shop front.  She is friendly, warm and enthusiastic, and happy for anyone to watch while she works.

Caterina designs a unique range of jewellery made from hand-made Murano glass, using a torch to create glass beads and shape her jewels. She started out in 1999 when she attended a course in stained-glass windows and Tiffany technique at the Atelier delle Arti in Livorno. She went on to obtain her certificate in Glass Making Techniques at the Vetroricerca Glas&Modern school in Bolzano.

Caterina has also studied other craft skills such as raku, pitfire and bucchero, and she worked in Murano, Venice for a year, perfecting the art of making glass beads by torch, a technique she uses most often in her own work now.

Caterina has had her own shop and workshop in Livorno since 2005, and she has taken part in craft fairs all over Italy. In 2008 she won an award at the Macef - Bijoux fair in Milan in the Best of Ornaments competition.
