Lift sharing comes to Livorno

Take a LiftAt a time when everyone is watching what they spend, and when ecological issues are at the forefront, a project like Take A Lift is an excellent move.  Designed by Anna Nosiglia, Take a Lift makes it possible to share car journeys from and to Livorno, and anywhere else in the world, by using an online lift search and offer system.

Lift sharing means saving on fuel and motorway costs, saving time on looking for parking spaces, and helping to save the planet by reducing your carbon footprint.

How does it work?
If you are a student at Pisa University, for example, and would like to find a daily lift from Livorno, on Take a Lift you can look for someone making the same journey by car at the time that suits you. Alternatively, you can submit a request for someone already making this trip. If you find what you are looking for, you can then contact that person directly and reach an agreement that includes sharing the journey costs.

Or perhaps you are going to a concert, exhibition or museum in another city and need a means of getting there: Take a Lift can help you to look for like-minded people going your way. Not only will you save money, but you’ll meet other people with similar interests.

To use the scheme, all you have to do is register with the site. After that you can search for someone who is going your way or enter a trip that you will be making, whether it be a regular journey or a one-off trip, for work, study or pleasure. 

Registering is easy: you just have to enter your name, address and either your identity card or driving licence number.
When you offer an online lift there is also an option for non-smokers, or for women only.

Anna came up with the idea for Take a Lift some years ago when her project was backed by the PST of the Comune di Livorno. Now, with the internet so widely used, and when similar projects are enjoying success throughout the world, she has realised that this is the moment to launch her scheme.
