The Island of Capraia
Fast Ferry to Capraia - ticket office in the port of LivornoDuring the summer, when the fast ferry service to Capraia operates, it is possible to get to the island and back in a day.
Capraia is 65km from Livorno and is one of the seven islands in the Tuscan Archipelago. Extremely popular as a stop for yachts and small cruisers, the island of volcanic origins is a beautiful unspoilt destination with its only village perched on a promontory overlooking the harbour.
No cars are allowed on the island but there is a local bus service linking the port with the village. The only beach is Cala Mortola, a rocky cove accessible by boat.
Capraia is a great place for walking, a popular destination being the small lake known as the Stagnone at 330m.
The direct fast ferry service leaves Livorno at 8.30am daily and leaves Capraia at 5.40pm on weekdays and at 7.40pm on Saturdays and Sundays. The journey takes 1 hour 40 minutes. The return journey costs €25 for adults and €12 for children. Please note, the ferry can only operate in good weather conditions.
There are various possibilities for guided walking tours on the island.
