NEW FOR 2017 is a service combining both PISA AND LUCCA
The TuscanyBUS schedule has been carefully studied to suit cruise passengers arriving in the Port of Livorno.
In 2017 the TuscanyBUS company will be adding a new bus service to their schedule, making it possible to visit the cities of Pisa and Lucca in one day from Livorno. This will be in addition to the already well-established services to Pisa and Florence. All services depart from Livorno city centre and run on selected dates (see below for details).
Explore Livorno by Bike!
Green Bike is a new bicycle rental service in Livorno run by Elisa Verde. It is situated in a central location, just a minute's walk from Piazza del Municipio, and offers flexible hire options, from 2 hours (from €7) to as long as you like! Elisa's bikes are all brand new and come with a sturdy lock. You can hire a classic bicycle, with or without gears, or a mountain bike. She even has a tandem for hire!
If your cruise ship docks at one of the industrial wharfs in Livorno Port (which all the big ships do), there will be a cruise shuttle bus service into town which drops off and picks up in Via Cogorano, alongside Piazza del Municipio, opposite Livorno town hall (Comune), just behind Piazza Grande. There is usually a charge for this. In 2016 it cost €5 per person, round trip.
If you are planning to travel on an Italian train and have reduced mobility, it is possible to arrange special assistance to get on and off the train. This is a free service, available in 266 stations throughout Italy, but it has to be booked at least 24 hours in advance and passengers need to know the train they wish to catch to arrange assistance.
IT'S EASIER THAN YOU THINK!
