Via Magenta has suffered heavily in recent years since the changes to the traffic and parking system in Livorno. However, it remains one of the most charming shopping streets in Livorno, a wide airy thoroughfare leading into one of Livorno's biggest piazzas, Piazza della Vittoria, known locally as Piazza Magenta.
If you want to get away from the main shopping drag and chain stores, and enjoy some local atmosphere, head to this area. There is a wide variety of local shops, from small boutiques to jewellers and dancewear, as well as an interesting choice of bars, cafés and small restaurants.
