12th December 2013 It was officially announced yesterday afternoon that, following the collection of signatures last year, as part of the FAI Places I Love campaign, the Dutch-German Church of Livorno has been awarded a sum of 25,000 euros to make the building safe and begin a huge clearing and cleaning operation of its interior. Following the collection of nearly 24000 signatures in favour of the church, the 19th-century building was put forward to the second part of the competition in an attempt to win much-needed funds. Sixteen historic buildings and sites throughout Italy have been chosen for funding by the FAI and the Banca Intesa San Paolo. See this link for details.
The signatures for the Dutch Church were collected thanks to the efforts in particular of the Livorno delle Nazioni cultural association, the Lions Club Livorno Host, members of the Baptist Church of Livorno.
