A team from the Belgian TV company VTM arrived in Livorno yesterday to film for their travel series Campinglife. The presenter of the programme, Jan van den Bossche, was accompanied by director Martin, producer Julie, researcher Leen, cameraman Philippe, and sound engineer Martin, as he explored Livorno. I had the pleasure of showing them around some of my favourite spots.
The team's visit coincided with the first night of the Effetto Venezia festival, so some of the filming was done in this historic quarter of Livorno where restaurants were buzzing with early evening visitors, and the stalls were already open for customers.
The team ate a hasty dinner on the canalside at
La Bodeguita while waiting to see the parade of historic boats that preceded last night's Palio dell'Antenna rowing race.
Also included in the shoot was the old Porto Medici, with a call at the Circolo Nautico Orlando bar for a Ponce. Filming continued along the Scali delle Cantine, in Piazza della Repubblica and along the Scali Olandesi.
Each episode in the 13 part series explores a different European campsite and the local area. The campsite the team visited in Livorno Province was the Park Albatros in San Vincenzo. They are also filming in Elba, and going hot-air ballooning during their three-day stay in Livorno Province. The programme will be shown in Belgium in the winter.
