Riserva naturale dei Tomboli, Cecina, Livorno Province Riserva naturale dei Tomboli, Cecina, Livorno Province The Municipality of Cecina in the Province of Livorno has a population of about 28,000 and covers an area of around 42 sq km. It lies along the Etruscan coast to the south of the comune of Rosignano Marittimo, about 30km from the city of Livorno.

Apart from the main town of Cecina, the municipality also includes the villages of Colle Mezzano, La CinquantinaMarina di Cecina (a popular summer holiday resort), Mazzanta, Pacchione, and San Pietro in Palazzi.

Also within the municipality, stretching for 15km along the coast, lies the natural park known as the Riserva Naturale dei Tomboli di Cecina, an area of 465 hectares rich in plant species and wildlife and shared between the municipalities of Cecina, Bibbona and Rosignano Marittimo.
