DUE TO THE DISASTROUS EVENTS IN LIVORNO ON 9TH/10TH SEPTEMBER, THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED OUT OF RESPECT FOR THE CITY'S STATE OF MOURNING FOR THE PEOPLE WHO LOST THEIR LIVES IN THE FLOODS. FUNDS WHICH WOULD HAVE BEEN USED FOR THE FESTIVAL WILL BE DONATED TO THE FAMILIES WHO HAVE BEEN AFFECTED BY THE FLOODS.
The third edition of Il Senso del Ridicolo ('a sense of the ridiculous'), the festival dedicated to humour, comedy and satire, will take place in Livorno (where else?!) from 22nd to 24th September 2017. Directed by Stefano Bartezzaghi and sponsored by the Fondazione Livorno, the festival will feature prominent figures from the world of humour, culture, literature and entertainment, such as psychoanalyst Massimo Recalcati (opening the festival on Friday 22nd at 5.30pm), writer and radio and tv presenter Enrico Vaime in conversation with TV presenter and recently appointed editor of comic book Linus, Pietro Galeotti (Sunday 24th at 4.30pm), contemporary art historian Antonella Sbrilli (Saturday 23rd at 11.30am), author and screenwriter Teresa Ciabatti in conversation with Agata Boetti (Sunday 24th at 12.30pm), writer and literary critic Ernesto Ferrero (Sunday 24th at midday), professor of Italian literature Nunzia Palmieri (Sunday 24th at 10am), writer Bruno Tognolini (Sunday 24th at 5.30pm), writer Paolo Giordano, author of "The Solitude of Prime Numbers" (Sun 24th at 11am), actress Sonia Bergamasco (reading poems by Scottish poet Carol Ann Duffy, Saturday 23rd at 11am), actor and humorist Walter Fontana (Saturday 23rd at 3.30pm), journalist Francesco Costa (Saturday 23rd at 10am), and radio presenter Matteo Caccia who will close the festival with a collection of stories told to him by local Livornese people earlier this year - "A Livorno è sempre Estate"(Sunday 24th at 6.45pm).
