Can it really be true? Livorno's aquarium on Terrazza Mascagni has been closed for restoration for so long now, that most of Livorno's population has given up on ever seeing it opened again. It must be at least ten years since the building was closed and boarded up and over the years it has become the subject of ridicule and irony.
However, it now looks official, and a date has been set: the new acquarium will be officially opened on Saturday 31st July 2010, to coincide with the beginning of Effetto Venezia and this year's Notte Bianca. It will be open from 7pm to midnight, entrance €5. All fish fans head for the Terrazza!
