Since the 1950s, the Palio Marinaro has taken place off the coast of the San Jacopo district, so naturally the rione also have their own rowing club. Since 2005 the Sezione Nautica San Jacopo has been named after Jacopo Maffei, a young Livornese rower who died tragically in a road accident in that year. A special Jacopo Maffei competition now also takes place in July each year. The club also boasts the only junior all-women's team in Livorno.
The San Jacopo rowing team have never won the ten-man Palio, but have won the four-man race several times, most recently in 2002. Their headquarters are in the Venezia district of Livorno, on the Fosso Reale, in Via del Vescovado.
The district has its own website.
