It says a lot when you travel away from home to a team one place below you in the league and you are disapointed with a draw. This feeling was expressed by both Acori and De Lucia after the one-one draw at Triestina. Both said they thought that the team merited more from the game. He's not wrong. Livorno had most of the opportunities and Diamanti's goal was deserving of a Champions League final, such was its quality.
The game started with a party to celebrate the birthday of Trieste, but Livorno were not there to give them a present. Livorno started brightly and their early pressure led to a series of corners. One skewed corner flew out towards the edge of the area, luckily Diamanti ran out to meet it with his back to goal and struck the sweetest of volleys that flew into the top left hand corner. The Serie B goal of the season without a doubt.
Triestina came back into the game after a long range shot rebounded off the post and one of four Triestina players were on hand to score the rebound. This goal was reminiscent of some of the early defending from the amaranto, with rebounds not being followed up.
The second half saw large amounts of Livorno pressure with a number of goal mouth scrambles, and the amaranto hitting the post twice. However Diamanti's goal was not enough to gather the three points.
Next for Livorno in the last game before the Christmas break, is Sassuolo who have started the season well and are one place above the amaranto in 2nd. Hopefully the ragazzi will provide everyone an early Christmas present.
