Tuscany's Best Wine 2009

Grand Hotel Palazzo Grand Hotel Palazzo Three of the best Tuscan wines made in Livorno

Of the thirty most highly considered wines in Tuscany, three are made by wine producers in the Province of Livorno. This seems to be an excellent reason for holding the first edition of the Tuscany’s Best Wine 2009 event here in the city of Livorno itself, at the prestigious Grand Hotel Palazzo, next weekend.

Tuscany’s Best Wine is organised by the Just4Elite company headed by Marco Gammanossi, in collaboration with the international Monte Carlo Wine Festival  (7, 8, 9 March), and Le Strade del Vino.

Thirty Tuscan Wine Producers

Thirty Tuscan wine producers (including 10 from the Province of Livorno) and 150 different labels representing all 10 provinces in Tuscany, will be present at the three-day event. Over the weekend, members of the public can come and taste the wines on offer in the glamorous setting of Livorno’s recently refurbished five star hotel. It is expected that as many as 1500 bottles will be opened during the event.

Monday for Wine Buyers

Monday is set aside for members of the wine trade who will have a rare opportunity of getting to know a vast variety of Tuscan wines and producers all under one roof.

Expert Wine Jury

During the event, a jury of wine experts will  decide on two winning labels, giving the selected producers the opportunity to take part in the important Monte Carlo Wine Festival. The jury consists of wine critic and writer Claudio Mollo, president of the Newine Sommelier association Anna Maria Bombara, and food and wine writer Gianfranco Grossi.

In addition, a special award will be made by students studying wine production at the University of Pisa’s Faculty of Agriculture, the wine producers of tomorrow.

The Tuscany’s Best Wine event is an excellent opportunity for local wine makers to widen their business horizons, for wine enthusiasts and wine buyers to widen their knowledge of local wine, and for quality Tuscan, and indeed Livornese, wine to become better known on the international scene.
